Fundraising Frequency Asked Questions
Q. Why does Cathcart fundraise?
A. The Cathcart Parent Organization fundraises to provide support for our teachers, staff and students. Some of the programs that the CPO sponsors are:
· Field trips for the students
· Classroom supplies
· Special project/requests
· Educational assemblies
· Family events (Back to school dance, Spring Carnival, etc)
· Playground equipment (large structures, balls, jump ropes, etc)
· Student recognition
Q. Does my child have to fundraise?

Q. Can I make a cash donation instead of participating in fundraising program?
A. Absolutely, Cash donations are welcome and appreciated. Check can be made payable to “Cathcart Parent Organization” or “CPO”. Please note that because the CPO is 501(c)3 organization, donations are tax deductible. Our tax id is 91-1401672.
Q. How can I get involved with the fundraising process at Cathcart?
A. We would love to every one involved, if not through fundraising, then through different avenues. All are welcome to attend CPO general meetings which are held the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 in the Cathcart library. Or, you can contact Maria St. Jean orTracey Elfstrom at fundraising@cathcartparents.org.
Q. I donated last year, what was done with that money?
A. This is an excellent question. In the 2008-2009 school year Cathcart raised $8,000 in the fall fundraiser and $4,000 in the spring “FunD Run” fundraiser. The money raised was allocated for CPO projects which include, but are not limited to:
· Teacher supplies
· Field trips
· Family events (Back to School dance, Movie Night, Spring Carnival, etc)
· Large structure playground equipment (which was installed on 9/19/09)
